NAD+ Treatment’s for Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety and depression are at epidemic levels in our society. About half of our population will be affected by a mental health issue during their lifetime and the age of onset ranges from childhood right through to old age.

If you, or a loved one is experiencing anxiety or depression come and see our medical team at Ageless NAD. We can discuss how NAD+ Treatments, as part of a holistic prescribed plan may help to relieve symptoms.

Although NAD+ Treatments are relatively new to Australia they have been available for decades in the U.S., Europe and South Africa. Ageless NAD+ is proud to be partnered with the pioneers of NAD+ treatments in the U.S. BR+NAD and use these protocols in our Bondi Junction clinic. NAD is at the centre of a huge amount of ongoing research worldwide and some of the published research is very encouraging:

Birkmayer Institute for Parkinson Therapy, Vienna, Austria

‘The coenzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH)* has been used in an open label trial as medication in 205 patients suffering from depression with various clinical symptoms. NADH was given orally, intramuscularly or intravenously. The duration of therapy ranged from 5 to 310 days. 93% of the patients exhibited a beneficial clinical effect.’ * NADH is NAD plus Hydrogen.Read More

How does NAD+ Treatments help people affected by anxiety and depression?

Anxiety and depression are complex illnesses. There are various types of anxiety and depression and there are multiple contributing factors. We do know that the brain’s chemistry is changed by stress, anxiety, depression and other illnesses. NAD+ Treatments can restore the brain’s natural chemistry, which regulates mood.

NAD+ exists in every cell in our body and has many roles. Critically, NAD+ has a key role in creating energy in our cells. When NAD+ levels in our cells are low, the brain’s nutrients are depleted, we can experience anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance and other mood changes. Boosting NAD+ levels has been shown to restore cellular energy levels, brain chemicals levels and proper levels of neuro receptors and neurotransmitters which resets the brain to its normal balance and that, in turn acts to regulate our moods.

The traditional treatments for anxiety and depression are psychotherapies, or talking therapies. In addition drugs such as anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medications are often prescribed along with lifestyle changes. While Exercise and diet are universally recognised as beneficial, the long term use of anti depressants or anti anxiety medications is more heatedly debated. The use of NAD+ I/V therapy and oral supplementation in an appropriate medically controlled environment can be useful in reducing medication and alleviating symptoms of anxiety and depression.

NAD+ is a natural derivative (coenzyme) of Vitamin B3, not a drug. NAD+ restores normal function, at a cellular level to the body and brain. Most anti-depressant medications target neurotransmitters within the brain. NAD+ is understood to operate in a similar way but does it naturally.

NAD+ Treatment: Part of a Holistic Treatment

NAD+ is only part of the treatment protocol we recommend:

During NAD+ treatment for Anxiety and Depression clients are strongly encouraged to:

  • Eat a healthy diet with an emphasis on fresh fruit and vegetables, lean protein and good fats and oils;
  • Exercise to improve their health and wellbeing and positive thinking;
  • Address the psychological aspects of their illness in therapy to ensure the success of the NAD+ Treatment.
  • Without addressing the underlying causes of the illness, the likelihood of relapse is increased because the problem behaviour is still present; and

  • Surround yourself with positive and supportive family and friends.
